Our story
IDS began in 1987 when Craig Smith founded CPS Resources in Charlotte, North Carolina. Starting in just a two‑bedroom apartment, Craig and his brother quickly became the top national sales team for Tampoprint in the Southeast. Listening to customers’ needs, they added print services in 1989 and engineered their own hot‑stamp machinery by 1993, evolving from a sales agency into a full‑service manufacturer. In 1997, Craig invested in a foil factory overseas, pioneered special processes, secured patents, and cemented our leadership in foil technology.
By 2010, digital decoration had matured, so Craig launched Innovative Digital Systems to offer industrial digital printing solutions alongside our analog platforms. Two years later we added DigitalPrintSupplies.com, an e‑commerce platform carrying Mimaki and Mutoh printers, inks and supplies. Today our expanded facilities house manufacturing, product storage and a customer test lab. Throughout our growth one promise has stayed the same: Decoration Is All We Do.
Leading the next chapter
In January 2025, Vaughn Pollman, a thirteen‑year IDS veteran, became Co‑Owner and President alongside Craig Smith. Vaughn started on our production floor and rose to General Manager before stepping into the top role. He has driven growth, broadened our product line and strengthened our culture. Vaughn’s partnership with Craig keeps IDS a family‑owned company and positions us for continued innovation in UV printing and product decoration.
